Advanced BioNutrition’s Delivery Technologies
The proprietary MicroMatrix™ targeted delivery systems (TDS), developed by Advanced BioNutrition (ABN), focus on helping companies to create new and innovative food and feed products to resolve specific product issues and formulation challenges. ABN’s proprietary technology is aimed at protecting and delivering sensitive bioactives in food or feed products, including probiotics, vitamins, essential oils, enzymes, therapeutics, animal vaccines and many other options.
Stabilization, Protection, and Delivery
ABN scientists developed MicroMatrix™ to meet the need to stabilize and protect sensitive bioactive materials through food or industrial manufacturing processes, in order to improve storage life under adverse conditions, or to target the delivery of the bioactive safely to the absorptive tissues of the gut or other sites. This revolutionary approach to in-situ or “in place” stabilization, protection and delivery has been applied to many uses, including probiotic bacteria, omega-3 oils, vitamins, enzymes, and oral vaccination of animals. The MicroMatrix™ technology is useful in a variety of food, feed and industrial products.
Significant Benefits Derived from Unique MicroMatrix™ Technology
- Improved efficacy--More bioactive is available to targeted sites, due to the stabilization and protection offered by MicroMatrix™
- Increased efficiency--MicroMatrix™ protection means customers can often use a lower starting concentration and still deliver the desired concentration to the target area, when compared to other delivery systems
- Enhanced/innovative products--Customers can develop new products, or improve existing products, using a family of patent-applied-for technologies.
Together, these benefits may lead to better economics and improved competitiveness for customers using MicroMatrix™.
Many Applications for this Distinctive Embedding Process
ABN’s novel technology employs an embedding process (backed by a number of patent applications) utilizing food-grade materials that are Generally Recognized as Safe (GRAS) by the US Food and Drug Administration, and does not require the use of solvents or extreme temperature controls, thereby maintaining the activity of the bioactive payload. This unique system has applications in industrial, human and animal uses.
Customization Based on End-Use Specifications
ABN’s scientists custom design the formulation of ingredients and concentrations of MicroMatrixTM with the customer’s various bioactives to meet the desired end-use specifications. All R&D efforts utilize a project driven, collaborative approach between ABN scientists and the customer. After the project achieves lab-scale specifications, ABN’s scale-up team works with the customer to demonstrate the technology in a pilot plant or production facility and begins the technology transfer for commercialization and inclusion in the manufacturing process.
