ABN offers algal sources of essential fatty acids (DHA, ARA) in forms suitable for inclusion in bulk or specialty feeds to provide enhanced health and nutritional benefits for farm animals. These are the same algae which deliver essential fatty acids in products for humans consumption.

Bulk ingredients for agriculture feeds:

  • High-DHA algae: This algae is a natural product of the same DHA triglyceride oils now being included in human infant formula and nutraceutical products. The algal derived fatty acid has been shown to provide a number of health and nutrition benefits in a variety of animal species. ABN is currently in trials with its TerraVital™, which has been demonstrated to significantly increase piglet survival.
  • DHA and ARA: These products are cost effective spray dried extracts also derived from microbial sources.

Performance Animals

Performance animals are susceptible to many of the same age, disease and injury related conditions that afflict humans. DHA-supplemented diets can have profound impact on reproductive capacity, injury recovery time, growth and disease resistance, visual acuity, and stress tolerance in a variety of performance animal species.

  • Equihance™ (currently in trials): Initial studies indicate that this product may dramatically decrease the recovery time of injured racehorses, and may relieve some of the symptoms of joint inflammation in older animals, allowing greater mobility. This product is a unique microbial blend which provides DHA, astaxanthin and beta-glucans.
  • DHA: Studies increasingly point out the need for omega 3 fatty acids in animal nutrition. Performance animals operate under increased stress and physical demands, and ABN's DHA provides a crucial nutritional component that can enable these animals to achieve their peak performance.

Companion Animals

Puppies, kittens and other young companion animals have specific nutritional demands in the early stage of life similar to human infants. Studies have shown that proper nutrition in the early stage of life helps determine the health of the animal as it grows.

ABN's products for companion animal feeds include:

  • DHA and ARA: rich microbial sources of essential fatty acids critical for early stage development and beneficial throughout the animal's life.
  • Attractant: In addition to providing nutritional benefits, DHA-rich algal meal improves the palatability and attractiveness of pet foods
