Former DuPont Agricultural Product Development executive joins ABN
Columbia, MD – October 1, 2013 – Dr. Konrad Kmetz, a recognized expert in plant pathology and an agriculture consultant both in the private and academic sectors, has joined Advanced BioNutrition Corp [ABN] as a Director of Business Development, specializing in the application of ABN's patented technology, with an emphasis on seed inoculants and biological for crop health. He began work with ABN in July 2013.
“Konrad's proven expertise in this important dimension of crop protection is invaluable to many ABN customers and prospective customers,” ABN Chairman and CEO William F. Kirk commented. “He is an important executive asset for our growing organization, just as he was during his previous noteworthy professional career at the DuPont company. We have consistently augmented our early ABN marketplace success through targeted strategic hiring - such as bringing Konrad on to our team.”
Kmetz works closely with customers' Research and Development and agricultural science staff to harness the numerous benefits of ABN's MicroMatrix technology, especially in enhancing viability and long-term stability of seeds to ensure improved crop yields. “This remarkable ABN technology often represents a bona fide breakthrough for our customers who seek to protect, deliver, and stabilize many of the world's vital agricultural products,” Kmetz points out. “We are able to inoculate or otherwise treat seeds to lengthen shelf-life across an array of challenging environmental conditions,” Kmetz points out.
“Actually, my personal driver in deciding to join ABN and its talented team was my prior experience in working with a number of these great people at DuPont's Agricultural Products business. I spent more than 31 years in various research and development, business development, and project management roles. Working alongside such talented people makes my work life really enjoyable,” Kmetz added.
Dr. Kmetz is a 1969 graduate of Ohio University with a B.S. in Botany and earned his doctorate in Plant Pathology from the Ohio State University in 1975. He served in the U.S. Army from 1969 until early 1972, and he remains active as a volunteer for several Delaware community organizations. He and his wife Marilyn live in Hockessin, Delaware.  Their son Brian lives in Chicago, and their daughter Colleen and son-in-law Justin live in San Diego.
